work out while travelling tips
It can be pretty easy to not work out while travelling. Once you’ve done all the hard work to get in shape for the beach, it can be easy to undo it all with a few margaritas. Let your hair down by all means, but why not also stay active, stay fit and find different ways to get a work out in whilst on holiday.

Here are a few of my top tips for maintaining that balance.

Get out and explore.

You don’t have to hit the hotel gym to get a good workout in – although that’s a good place to start! I love to head out for a hike, go for a swim, try out some kayaking or paddle boarding – the most important thing is to stay active. In Mauritius, I went snorkelling and kayaking as well as hitting the hotel gym and wellness area. In Cape Town, I ran the Cape Peninsula Half and hiked Lion’s Head. In Namibia, I went rafting on the Orange River. Do the hike, then do the brunch – you’ll feel amazing, trust me!

Do something small every day.

Start every day with a walk or 10 jumping jacks. Take the hotel stairs instead of the lift. Go for a swim before lunch. Just do something.

Take workout gear with you.

I never leave the house without my trainers and a sports bra when travelling. They are perfect for a hike or a sunset jog along the promenade. In fact, that’s one of my favourite ways to check out the local town and decide where I might pop for dinner later! I also always pack a skipping rope because it’s such a great, quick and efficient way to work out while travelling. Just two minutes of skipping and you’ll be completely out of breath. It’s so worth it, super quick to do and so easy to pack!

Try a local class.

If you’re in a resort, try the surf club. If you’re in a city, find a spin or yoga studio and fit in with the locals. When I’m in London, I like to pop to Psycle. My dream would be to go to Soul Cycle in LA.

Hello, I’m Stefanie! I’m here to inspire you to create the life you want to live. This site is my way of sharing my life with you and sprinkling a little inspiration along the way. I live on the beautiful island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands with my fiancé, Rob, a South African who often begrudgingly makes appearances on the blog. Travel is a huge part of our lives – we love exploring the world, trying new foods and seeing new places. You’ll find a lot of that here on the blog, as well as a lot of what’s on my mind and how I’m feeling.

I think doing something small every day is really helpful, i started off cycling to work only twice a week, now I do it every day!
