Our Guernsey Hen Do - StefanieGrace.com
On Saturday, I had the great pleasure of organising a mini Guernsey hen do for one of my friends alongside the rest of the group. We call ourselves the “Island WAGs” and we are a group of five girls (currently down to 4 as one is off-island to study) who moved to Guernsey when our other halves were relocated for work (and they all work together). Whatever floats your boat, right? But we find the name kind of funny. Incidentally, we aren’t all handbags and stilettos, but we do partake in the odd cocktail evening to talk about our men, but who doesn’t?!

The hen, Amy, had already had a big hen do with all of her friends from home in Ireland, where we are all headed for the wedding in June, so we just wanted to organise a mini Guernsey hen for her at home to mark the occasion. We split up the organisation tasks into spa, dinner and games and took one each. I was on the spa package task and organised for us to all get a massage at The Old Government House Hotel Spa, the only 5-star hotel on the island. Then we popped upstairs to partake in a little Bottomless Brunch with some of the new healthy options that the hotel has to offer (more to come on that in a future post!)

After a couple of hours in the hotel conservatory sipping on bottomless prosecco and Bloody Marys, we retreated back to mine for more bubbles, mini treats and a fun Mr-and-Mrs game organised by one of the other girls, Sydney. We had prefilmed the questions from Amy’s fiancé Ian and then filmed her answers, plus her reaction to his answers. Sydney is going to put together a video of the game for them to watch later on. Should be good fun!

After the game, it was somehow magically already 6pm and we all had to hot-foot it to get changed upstairs and head for dinner at one of our fave girls’ night out spots, Ziggurat. My friend Sonal had taken charge of the dinner reservations. #teamwork
Ziggurat is a great place for our group because we have two vegetarians and I try to avoid wheat and dairy, so dishes like babaganoush and Moroccan tagines go down very well between us. We sat and enjoyed a drink in the garden with stunning views over St. Peter Port out to the Channel before coming inside to eat and chat.

After dinner we took a slow walk back to mine to get changed into our bikinis and sit in the hot tub on the roof terrace. There we continued to chat and giggle until it turned midnight and we realised we should probably head to bed.

It was such a fun day – so great to bond with the girls and spend time together without a care in the world (I actually didn’t think about work for the whole day!) and just relax and laugh and chat.
If this is what WAG-life is, then give me more of it!

Hello, I’m Stefanie! I’m here to inspire you to create the life you want to live. This site is my way of sharing my life with you and sprinkling a little inspiration along the way. I live on the beautiful island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands with my fiancé, Rob, a South African who often begrudgingly makes appearances on the blog. Travel is a huge part of our lives – we love exploring the world, trying new foods and seeing new places. You’ll find a lot of that here on the blog, as well as a lot of what’s on my mind and how I’m feeling.
