I loved Farmer’s Daughter Hotel in West Hollywood for so many reasons. We had spent a long time trying to find a good place to stay that both was reasonably priced and well-located. We had looked at the usual suspects before stumbling upon this review from Rachel Phipps, which sold us on the hotel. We love something a bit quirky, with a good restaurant on site – and within walking distance of other places. We booked almost immediately!
The Room
We booked into a Robin Room*, which had a huge king bed (really comfortable and such a welcome sight after a long flight!). It was cosy with a great big shower room and the perfect seating/desk area. It was like a mini studio without a kitchenette (the other rooms have those though!). I am always grateful for a coffee machine in the room. Farmer’s Daughter had a nespresso with a few capsules which was great for us before we headed out for a run in the morning. What else is in the room?
- A glass wall to the bathroom (not as weird as it sounds – there is a curtain too!)
- A flat screen tv
- An alarm clock with bluetooth speakers
- A media strip with USB charging station (this really excited me!)
- Great free wifi (duh!)

Service
Firstly, let’s talk parking. The valet system was really easy to use. It’s not included in the hotel room price, so beware, but it is so convenient that you’d be a fool not to use it. The staff on reception throughout our stay were great – service was quick, friendly and helpful. Service in the restaurant was little slow when we ate there, but it was busy night, and we were really tired which may have exacerbated the feeling of wait time a little for us, as we really just wanted to get to bed! Cleaning was great and I love all of the little tuches around the hotel -e specially the free homemade fudge in the lobby by the internet station. It’s near the lifts and the exit to the parking – do not miss it! 
Grounds & Location
The hotel is located on Fairfax, opposite The Grove, the Farmer’s Market and CBS television studios. It’s awesome for walking everywhere, which is big news because it happens so infrequently in traffic-filled LA. We enjoyed a stunning sunrise on the first morning – the beauty of jet lag! It was a really exciting way to start the trip as we had landed in LAX in darkness the night before. 
I loved the courtyard and the setting of the hotel. People from outside came in for drinks on both nights we were and despite our room being above the courtyard, we didn’t hear any noise, really. Despite being on Fairfax,we didn’t feel like we were on a main road at all – another big bonus for LA
Food
We ate at the in-house restaurant, Tart Restaurant for dinner on our first real night because a) we were tired an didn’t want to go far and b) we had read really good things about it. We started with tuna tartare and fish tacos, both of which were really good. Then I had the burger with a pile of truffle fries (not like me, I know but I just had a major craving – probably lacking energy) and Rob went for the steak. I’ll be honest – I had major Food FOMO. His was amazing. Mine was a good burger and the truffle fries were good too but the steak was so good that I wished I had had it, despite the small portion. To drink, I sampled a couple of their cocktails and I would totally recommend them. I don’t have great photos of the food because we were outside and it was dark, but trust me, it’s worth a visit. They also offer the majority of the menu for room service that it delivered in a picnic basket – fitting in with the rural, farm/countryside vibe of the hotel. 
I also read that Tart is great for brunch, but we didn’t have brunch or breakfast when we were staying there simply cos we had researched West 3rd Street and wanted to explore a little more. Read about our Brunches in LA here.
Activities
The hotel offers quite a few cool activities. You can hire bikes from the hotel lobby – I wish we’d been there longer, because I would have loved to have done that or even done a wonderfully cheesy Celebrity Home tour around LA, as recommended in the reception. Obviously, you can go shopping in The Grove and explore West 3rd Street just around the corner which is fun. There is also little pool with cool little inflatables, but we didn’t get around to using it. Damn you, jet lag! I was so exhausted whilst staying here (but at least the beds were super comfy!)
In Summary…
Jet lag prevented us from truly enjoying this magical little hotel but I was really impressed with the room, the location and the special touches (Yes, we ate a lot of fudge) You can find out more about the hotel at farmersdaughterhotel.com.
