In December, I finally got around to uploading the video from a really fun hen do that I was a part of just over a year ago. I organised the trip with two friends, Caroline & Pauline, as a surprise for our friend Indhi, before her wedding. We were a small group – three bridesmaids and the bride – and we went for 3 days – Saturday to Tuesday. I’m actually really impressed with what we managed to pull together considering that we had to do the entire thing over email, as we lived in three different countries at the time.

The night before the trip, I stayed at Gatwick and given the early flight time the next morning I invited In to come and stay with me – I almost let the cat out of the bag over a glass of wine that evening, but I kept schtumm at the last minute.

On Saturday morning, we flew to Malaga, met the girls at the airport & made our way to our Airbnb, organised by Pauline (I can’t link as the listing no longer exists), before getting straight out and into the streets to find somewhere for lunch. We have all bonded over wine, meat and cheese more than a few times over the years, so we were more than excited to find a couple of tapas bars to celebrate our weekend in the sun – it was surprisingly warm for early October!

After a little wander around and a bit of a nap, we had organised a special night out for the Saturday night. It was a mini food tour ending in a Cocktail Making class in Malaga centre. The bar was called Los Patios de Beatas. Caroline had organised this via Spain Food Sherpas and we really enjoyed wandering around the town and learning how to make a couple of classic cocktails. This was the big night out so we made In wear white and donned her in a veil and a sash and we just wore simple black dresses. After the class, we hit a couple of bars and went dancing to all of our favourite Spanish tunes.

The next day we needed a bit of down time, so we spent Sunday on the beach. We had a lazy morning before strolling down to the seafront for lunch. It was so nice to be on the front, enjoy the weather, see the local families & tourists all enjoying a weekend out and eat lots of fresh fish with lovely views. On the way home, we grabbed some (more!) wine and cheese and decided to have an evening in at the apartment.

On Monday, it was my assigned task – a day activity and I chose to do a personalised hen do treasure hunt around Malaga. Beforehand, we had answer a few questions about the couple, the wedding and we had sent some stories & photos to the organisers, iCachr Malaga, who produced a cute little guide book for our day (which we disappointingly were unable to keep…). It was a lot of fun, pretty active but organised very cleverly with stop-offs in cafes & fun places so you didn’t feel like you were rushing around. You can see a lot of the day in the video. Afterwards, we stopped at the famous EL Pimpi for yet again more tapas before heading up the nearby hill hiking trail (in sandals and dresses…) for some lovely views over the city. That evening, we went out to a restaurant close to our apartment for some wine and yup, you guessed it more tapas. Perfection. on Tuesday, we simply walked back to the beach for breakfast with a view before heading back to the airport.

I was completely surprised by Malaga. It has a bit of reputation as a stag and hen do mecca, which wasn’t quite the vibe we were going for. But it turned out to be one of the best trips I have ever been on. (Let’s do it again, girls!)

P.S. Our trip also featured in the vlogs below too. Have a watch!
