Walkabout’s Designer Closet Sale

Wahh, I love my job! ( I also love that when I type ‘wahh’ on my iPhone, it autocorrects to ‘Wahhabi’) When I received an email a few weeks before my first day from my new boss telling me that they were having a Designer Closet Sale in June, I almost leapt out of my chair. My last job was pretty boring for me as it was not at all what I wanted to be doing in life, so I was literally sitting and waiting for the change anyway. But this seemed like an amazing thing to get started with.

The foundation collected clothes from lots of local women and designers and sold the items for them, offering the sellers up to 60% of the proceeds. This is event is pretty much why I went quiet on the blog for a while, as it took up most of my life for a couple of weeks.

The Designer Sale was intense work but so worth the rewards. We sold amazing things from a brand new Marc Jacobs sweater to Louboutin shoes and Gucci handbags and made around £20,000 for the charity. We had so much Chloe on sale there was almost no point in going to the Chloe store at one point… Hats off to people who work in retail on their feet all day because it’s a hard job.

P.S. I work for the Walkabout Foundation, but this is a personal post. You’ll see me tweeting, Facebooking and Instagramming some company events as part of my life, but I do not represent the company in this way. This is my personal blog and I include things that I feel my readers would find interesting. 🙂

Incidentally, you’ll find me posting official messages on the Walkabout Twitter and Facebook though too, if you’re interested!
