Are you sitting comfortably?

It is once again time to escape to the sun! The holiday season is fast approaching and although we are all looking forward to a bit of sun, sea and sand, travel can be stressful experience. What with the problems with jet lag, uncomfortable plane seats, bad food and oversized luggage, you can be overwhelmed. I always seem to to be travelling – either for ‘business’ or pleasure. I use the term ‘business’ very loosely! But I am always looking to make a journey more comfortable. So, how can you make travelling a more pleasant experience?

Celebrities travel all the time, so who better to ask for some great travel tips? The fashionistas of the world live on planes as they jet from place to place and fashion week to fashion week. Matthew Williamson told Vogue that when he travels he takes “plenty of music for continual motivation, and a Smythson notebook for capturing any sudden and inspirational ideas on the go.” Home comforts definitely help when you’re on the road a lot. It may also be a good idea to take candles to make hotel rooms feel more homely.

For Khloe Kardashian, it’s all about the bathtub in a hotel. As she told ABCnews: “I love baths. Normally when I make a hotel reservation I try to request a bathtub, but sometimes they can’t guarantee it. I like to feel pampered at a hotel and when you don’t have a bathtub, I’m like, ‘Hello? What are you thinking?’ A lot of the newer hotels don’t have bathtubs.” The girl has a point. Sometimes you just need a bath to relax after a long flight! And why else do you go on holiday?! For a bit of luxurious relaxation! You’ll never see Kimora Lee Simmons without a fabulous set of Louis Vuitton luggage. Luxury really can make the journey more enjoyable. The fashion designer also wears lightweight fabrics on long flights, staves off dehydration by drinking lots of water and brings lots of activities to amuse her young girls on long flights.

Rehydrating is the biggest thing for a long flight. Make sure that you are drinking lots of water, especially if you are in a hot country. It can help you to sleep better and also to help you to fight the signs of jet lag. You should also use a good moisturiser to further rehydrate your skin. At the moment, I’m loving Boots’ Vitamin E eye and night creams. Plus I recently discovered Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream Daily Moisturising Cream with SPF 15, which leaves my skin silky soft and protects it from harmful rays. However, I just moved to Costa Rica and I can’t seem to get hold of it here! So if anyone fancies sending me some – feel free!

A pillow is also a fantastic aid for travelling, especially on long-haul flights. Samsonite’s fleece travel pillow actually clips on to your hand luggage, meaning that it won’t take up any room and you’ll be grateful for it when you’re looking to get comfortable mid-flight, I know I was on my lonely fourteen hour flight to San Jose!

What tips do you have for travelling?

Model Profile: Georgia May Jagger

Georgia May Jagger may have given up modelling for the moment in order to finish her A levels and turn 18, but that’s not going to stop her in life. That is something to remember of course, that despite the Bardot-esque looks and extensive career so far, Georgia is just 17 years old. And although her rock star/supermodel heritage should naturally give her the edge (her father is Rolling Stone Mick Jagger and her mother is supermodel Jerry Hall), she wants to make her own way in life. Something that she has certainly done with contracts with Rimmel, Hudson Jeans and Versace already under her belt!

Georgia follows in the footsteps of her mother Jerry who was a Versace model in the late 70s/ early 80s for Gianni himself. However, his sister has much to say for the young model:

“She’s smart, beautiful, full of energy and has a strong personality…and with that natural high star quality, I adore her,” Donatella Versace told WWD. “She’s perfect for this collection — a real Versace girl.”

Having managed to secure a Vogue cover (Nov 09), Georgia also topped her super year by being voted Model of the Year 2009. So, once her A-levels are out of the way, what path with Georgia’s life take? The world is her oyster.

Style Icon: Cheryl Cole

The nation has recently fallen in love with Cheryl Cole all over again. She has emerged over the past year from heartbreak and tabloid headlines to winning the X Factor by mentoring Alexandra Burke and being welcomed into the fashion world with open arms!

Ok, so she may have some critics, but overall Cheryl is fashion’s new crush and the petite star has even been selected for the front cover of UK Vogue in February. Girls Aloud are getting more and more stylish as well every time they step foot on stage! Cheryl has won the nation’s hearts and has slowly established herself as a force to be reckoned with on the fashion front!
