Updates: Letter to my Readers

It has been over a month since I last blogged! Sincere apologies to my fans and readers – I know that there are a few of you! I am actually in my final year at university and have all of my final exams at the moment, so life isn’t that much fun and I haven’t got that much free time! I do however have a couple of updates on the site for you, so I’d like to keep you all informed:

If you haven’t already noticed, I have added a new email address to this site, so that you can email me if you want to ask any specific questions or have any need to contact me. Please do keep leaving comments on the blogs though – they’re lovely to receive and also let me know what you all like to read! The email is stefaniegraceblog@gmail.com – I’d love to hear from you! Especially if you have any ideas on what you’d like to see more of on this site!
Also, for those of you on Twitter, you can follow me as @stefaniegrace. Tweeting is much easier than blogging at the moment, so I haven’t completely dropped off the radar!
Thirdly, I have also added a little section on the other sites that I write for:
  • Running in Heels is a fabulous pan-european website covering everything from art and politics to food and fashion. My personal author’s profile can be found here.
  • Sanctuary Adornments is my university newspaper. I am one of the fashion editors and recently set up a blog to work alongside the fashion section’s website.
  • Amazona is something that I’m sure some of my readers will have already heard about, as I mention them quite a lot. Amazona Style is a new company selling fashion accessories and shoes in larger sizes for taller women. I write for Amazona Style’s Blog. You’ll find a lot of interesting reads on there! Amazona herself is particularly opinionated!!
So, I hope that these sites will keep you busy for the next couple of weeks. As soon as I’ve got these finals out of the way (I’m currently 5 down, 5 to go…!) I’ll be back with lots of lovely blogs for you all to enjoy! In the meantime, let me know what you’d like to see!

My 100th Blog!!

Wow, I’ve come a long way and I’ve written a LOT of blogs! But, I have to say that I am absolutely loving it all! Last April I decided that Fashion Journalism was definitely for me. I had often considered it, but often thought that maybe it was just every little girl’s dream and told myself to come up with a better plan! But then I found a course online with CTJT and decided to go for it! I paid for the course on the day that I handed in all of my Year Abroad work. I was so excited that I even finished and submitted the first module on the first day! I started my blog last April and couldn’t imagine what it would be like with archives; pages and pages of things that I had written!! Since then, I have started writing for my student newspaper The Sanctuary (and have recently been offered the editor’s position!), I also write for amazonastyle.com and studentbeans.com. I also have a greater understanding of the world of fashion journalism and an internship lined up for July with The Daily Express Fashion Desk. All in all, I an thoroughly enjoying all of it and just can’t wait to graduate so that I can do this full time!

I have a couple of thank you’s to throw out at the bottom here: Amazona, Student Beans and The Sanctuary Bham for giving me a platform. The Daily Express for thinking that I’m good enough! My best friend Chris for putting me up on his sofa next summer and also for his knowledge of London transport, which will no doubt come in handy! My parents for actually taking me seriously on this! And finally, my boyfriend Mark for having to listen to me go on about Vogue and shoes for hours on end and not complaining about it… much!!

Just a quick update!!

Hi everyone!

I’m sorry I’m so busy at the moment! I have no time to do much blogging, although I am trying to keep up with all the comments! Thank you so much for all of them! My plan at the moment is to get this last week of uni done before the Christmas holidays, then I may be MIA for a few days as I’m jetting off to Barcelona with my mum to do some Xmas shopping! However, on my return, the blog will be full of photos from my adventures of late, as well as my vintage shopping buys!!
I went to the Clothes Show Live on Friday with my friend Elles, so expect a quick review of that within the next couple of weeks! I’m slowly learning how to improve my blog – I was a complete novice when I started, but I seem to have got the hang of it and I really love writing for it! I wish I didn’t have so many other things going on in my life, so that I can dedicate more time to it!
Outside of this blog, I’ve got a quite a bit of work to do for my uni course, I want to complete a few more modules of my Fashion Journalism course with Cleland Thom and I’ve also got a few articles to write! You will hopefully be seeing a couple on Amazona (see previous blog), as well as something for Studentbeans.com (a breakdown of the Christmas sales). I am also going to try and fit something in for The Sanctuary, my uni paper and I have also agreed to write something for a new website called www.directoryofbirmingham.com, so all in all – a busy month is ahead of me! I will eventually link them all back to this blog, so that all of my work is in one place.
Plus, I haven’t made my NYE plans yet!! Any suggestions?!

PUBLISHED AGAIN! Accessorise Your Winter!

I have been published again in my student newspaper for the Fashion and Beauty section.

The website is http://www.sanctuarynewspaper.co.uk/birmingham . There is a shorter version of the final published one on this site.

Here is the article:

Accessorise your Winter!

It’s all about accessories this season, judging from the catwalk trends and quite frankly, let us thank the fashion goddess above, because on a student budget so close to the party season, a new bag, necklace or pair of shoes will hopefully not break the bank as much as a whole new wardrobe would! This season, don’t leave the house without a clutch bag and that all-important statement jewellery. As a rule of thumb, if the necklace is pretty heavy, you should probably be wearing it! Pearls were all over the catwalks, particularly at Luella, Emporio

Armani and Roberto Cavalli. Insect brooches have also proven to be popular. Big, bright, jewel-encrusted sparkly items are a big YES this season and this goes for bags as well. Burberry has an amazing array of clutches; their little black feather number is particularly scrumptious. Big shoe news for winter is that flats are back! For day or night, pop on a pair of embellished flats for the ultimate in comfort and glamour!

In terms of covering up this winter and keeping warm, it’s easy to get lost in layers, so learning to layer well is key to this winter’s look. Key items are a gorgeous winter coat, chunky boots, an oversized knitted hat (see Burberry Prorsum) and for the bohemian-esque amongst you, the folk trend relies on scarves to add a little something to winter outfits. Don’t be put off by the fact that black is most certainly back this season. Colour can be added with accessories and Hermès do a fantastic range of scarves in bright colours and prints to brighten up dreary winter days. Whilst we look to the runways and designers for inspiration, on the high street River Island, Accessorize, New Look and even Primark are perfect for all of your accessory needs!

PUBLISHED!!!!! LBD: Chic, Classic, Timeless

This is my first article published in new university paper, The Sanctuary.

LBD: Chic, Classic, Timeless

A black dress should not be solely reserved for boardrooms and funerals. If accessorized well, it should never be boring. Coco Chanel, who is credited with inventing the LBD, almost always wore black. Year after year, celebrities count on the LBD for the red carpet.
Take Elizabeth

Hurley who shot to fame in Versace’s infamous safety-pin dress. Every season, designers find new ways of updating this classic and this autumn is no different. Balenciaga are leading the fashion pack with three of this season’s hottest updated LBDs and Versace has brought this summer’s one-shoulder dress bang up to date for the cooler months with a beautiful dress in black silk. For something a little different, Marchesa’s feathered dress is great for a party or night out. Team with killer heels and smoky eyes. A wardrobe staple, the Little Black Dress will never go out of style.

Next Step…

I have signed up to write for the Adornment (Fashion and Beauty) section of “The Sanctuary”, the new student newspaper at the University of Birmingham. Juggling that with final year work may be a challenge, but I am really looking forward to experiencing these things first hand. I have also put my name down for a French module next year entitled “La Presse et son discours: analyse et ecriture”. It is all about the style and analysis of French newspapers etc, so I’m hoping that I get it, as its another small step into learning more about the world of journalism. I still haven’t got round to finishing my article for Module 2 of my fashion journalism course, as life is just getting in the way and I really want it to be good, so I dont want to just sit and rush it out, just to send it off! Though it is tempting, considering how little free time I have at the moment!

I should probably stop writing blogs and get on it!!
