Oh gosh, the Olympics have hit and haven’t we realised it. Day one, we haven’t even made it to the opening ceremony yet and I find myself with no seat, sweating like a woman wrongfully accused of murder and kicked out after one stop. ” I have just been informed that we are terminating this service,” announced the driver, although he didn’t seem to know why. So out we piled into the busiest station platform of confused people I’ve seen in a while. “It’s all gone Pete Tong, first day of the Olympics!” joked a Tube worker on the platform.
They said there would be a lot of blood, sweat and tears during London 2012 but I wasn’t expecting that on the platform of East Finchley. It took 3 trains before I could even fit into a carriage and then I was so hot that, unable to reach anything else in my bag, had to mop my brow with my scarf that was resting on top throughout the journey. Ventilation my arse. And we English beg for a better summer. What fools! We can’t cope with heat any more than we can cope with the cold. Snow Day? I’m calling in ‘sun day’ next time.
Can’t wait to see what the rest of The Games have to offer us.
