When some trends make a big return to the runways, you wish that you had never seen them again. For most, the dreaded double denim is one such comeback trend. How many of us see somebody in the street teaming a pair of jeans with a denim jacket and think: “How cutting edge!” ? Not many, that’s for sure. So, why-oh-why has almost every designer this season decided to force us into reconsidering making such a statement with our clothing?
The one thing that I think when I look at most of these catwalk photos is that they do not look modern. If you didn’t know that they were SS10, you’d be forgiven for thinking we’d raided the fashion archives for these beauties. But alas! No. Strong, reliable labels such as Chloe, Ralph Lauren, House of Holland and even D&G have brought back the look and I’m sorry, but I just don’t see it working on me! And I doubt that I’m the only one! Some trends just aren’t made to follow.

However, when even style icon Alexa Chung manages to pull off quite a sexy denim look for the new Pepe Jeans campaign, maybe we all should pause for a second and consider this a possibility. Should I rush out now to buy some matching denims and parade around my local supermarket feeling all 2010, or should I partake in some other daring look for Spring/Summer and leave the dreaded double denim for the hardcore Brick Laners? I think we all know the answer to that one.

Hmmm, not a fan of double denim no matter how much I try to be. But Alexa Chung does look preetty good in it.
I think you should give double denim a go around Tesco next week and I'll be the judge of the success.
Urghhh I despise double denim!
It's definitely getting mixed reviews – and Chris? No.
I say give the look a try! Everyone's dreading it, but it was done well in the 60s and 70s and magazines are really pushing the look now.
